With over 150 performances to date Fred & Alice, one of the biggest hits of the last 5 years is back on tour! CallBack Theatre is delighted to present the award-winning Fred & Alice Love in the time of OCD written by award winning writer John Sheehy and performed by Ciaran Bermingham (Game of Thrones, The Young Offenders), Cora Fenton (Deception (Tv3), Dead Along The Way).
It’s not easy to get by in this crazy old world is it? But Fred and Alice have discovered that all you really need are 2 tennis rackets, disproportionate reactions to minor accidents, an immature coping strategy and each other. Fred & Alice is a quirky love story about two amazing mischievous characters who meet in a home. It wasn’t really a home but Fred always called it a home because that was where he lived, and if you are not living at home then where are you? It was love at first sight for Alice. Fred didn’t talk to her again for years but then eventually Fred got used to her and it was love at first sight for him too. From their days in care, to independent living, Fred and Alice negotiate the perils and pitfalls of life and love. Together they create a fantastical world which spills over into a madcap reality when they decide to move in together.
Since premiering and selling out a 3 week run in 2013 in Bewley's Cafe Theatre, Dublin Fred & Alice has toured the country playing to fantastic sold out houses and receiving rave reviews and audience reaction. It was invited back to Bewley’s for a further 3 weeks in Sept 2013 which again sold out. In 2014 it was awarded an 8 week tour by the Arts Council of Ireland, it was invited over to the prestigious Oran Mor Glasgow where it received a 5 star review from The Herald and played to capacity houses. It has continued to be performed since its premiere, 2014 saw it performed for the first time in secondary schools and third level institutions and it has continued to tour to venues and festivals since. In 2016 it was recorded as a radio play supported by Ocean FM and BAI and was awarded a Bronze medal at the 2016 PPI National Radio Awards.
