Called ‘the world’s reigning male chorus’ by the NewYorker, the San Francisco based GRAMMY® award-winning ensemble Chanticleer will celebrate their 40th Anniversary this year with a number of new musical programmes and concert performances in the US and Europe. Praised by the San Francisco Chronicle for its ‘tonal luxuriance and crisply etched clarity’, Chanticleeris known around the world as “an orchestra of voices” for its seamless blend of twelve male voices ranging from soprano to bass and its original interpretations of vocal literature, from Renaissance to jazz and popular genres, as well as contemporary composition.

Their chosen programme for Wexford, titled Then and There, Here and Now, takes a panoramic look back at Chanticleer’s musical history as they continue to blaze a trail under their Music Director William Fred Scott. The programme contains music by some of Chanticleer's favourite composers, from Palestrina and Victoria to Mason Bates and Steven Stucky, Lustrous examples of the South American baroque, as well as audience favourite arrnaged by Jennings, Puerling, McGlynn and others. Then and There, Here and Now reflects the expansive aesthetic and seamless virtuosity in ensemble singing which have been Chanticleer's hallmark for four decades.
