Cuckoo’s Nest are a traditional group consisting of Maureen Codd (Cuckoo), Maureen Codd Junior and Cuckoo’s 14 grandchildren - Rachel, Eve, Florence, Anna, Gracie, Billy, John, Cormac, Maria, Daniel, Claire, Reagan, Evelyn and Peter. They hail from Wexford and Dublin and play a wide variety of instruments. The grandchildren range from ages 8 years to 17 years old. Many of them are acclaimed traditional and classical musicians having won numerous All-Ireland titles at both Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann and the classical Feis Ceoil competitions. They were introduced to Music from a very young age and were greatly inspired by their talented grandparents, Cuckoo and Papa!
They enjoy playing for different events around the country including the "To Be Irish" concert, which took place in the EPIC Museum last Christmas and was streamed worldwide to celebrate the Irish diaspora. Cuckoo's Nest are last year's winners of "Réalta agus Gaolta", a talent competition which was broadcast on TG4. They describe their most recent appearance on the Late Late Show as being a wonderful experience and a memory they will always cherish.
In addition, song-writer and musician Aaron Berry will be supporting Cuckoo’s nest on the night. Aaron is well-known in the industry and appeals to all age groups; Aaron will have you dancing in your seats with some his own creative work and other well know songs. If you haven’t heard Aaron play yet, why not head over to Aaron Berry music on Facebook and South East Radio Facebook page and give a listen and a vote for the Irish Music month award.
Ballycogley Players will also be performing comedy sketches on the night.
