SpringMoves Dance Festival and Liz Roche Company are excited to announce a range of workshop opportunities for young dancers, adults and dance teachers at The National Opera House on Wednesday June 1st from 7-9pm & Thursday June 9th from 10am – 12pm. The programme of workshops will be taught by Artistic Director Liz Roche and Liz Roche Company dancers Lucia Kickham, Ryan O’Neill and Glòria Ros Abellana, who are all dancing in the critically acclaimed piece ‘The Here Trio’, which is set for two live performances on June 10th at The National Opera House.

Flying Low Contemporary Dance Workshop for Young Dancers 

Professional Dance Artist and past Associate Artist with Liz Roche Company Lucia Kickham will be leading a Flying Low Contemporary Dance Workshop for young dancers who have previous dance experience. Lucia will work with dancers to teach Flying Low technique which is a technique initiated by Venezuelan dancer and choreographer David Zambrano. Flying Low uses simple movement patterns and principles to move in, out and along with floor with speed, efficiency and pleasure. We recommend wearing something that covers your shoulders and legs for this workshop.

Lucia Kickham is a Dublin-based dance artist, who has been performing and collaborating internationally since 2011. Trained in The Netherlands, she has worked with companies and artists which include Philip Connaughton, Junk Ensemble, TRASH, Maria Nilsson Waller and Jessie Keenan Dance. In recent years Lucia has been a recipient of awards from the Arts Council of Ireland, Dance Ireland, Tyrone Guthrie Centre, Tipperary Dance and Le Grand Studio Bruxelles. In 2020 she was awarded a Next Generation Award from the Arts Council of Ireland to develop her performance improvisation practice with a recent showing of her work SOLO-ing presented at Tipperary Dance International Festival 2021. Lucia was Dance Ireland HATCH Artist 2018 which lead to the creation of ensemble work, INIT:The Warm Up Project performed at Dublin Fringe Festival 2019. Lucia is Associate Artist with Liz Roche Company 2019 - 2021 and is very grateful for the generous support she has received during this time.
