GATEWAY INTO SUMMER Symphonies and Arias

2 June 2024
Tickets: €15 + Facility Fee

Once again the Gateway Orchestra presents a unique concert to herald the arrival of Summer. The orchestra, which is generously supported by Wexford County Council, is part of Wexford Sinfonia and shares many of its members with Sinfonia. Fergus Sheil, founding artistic director of Irish National Opera, was the orchestra’s first conductor back in 2003 and he continued as Musical Director until his duties at INO took up more of his time. After 21 years Gateway continues to provide a unique opportunity for amateur musicians to play in an orchestra.

This year’s concert is something very special, with selections from best-loved symphonies, specially chosen by our esteemed conductor, Mary Walsh.

We are delighted to be joined for this concert by soloist Rory Dunne, one of Ireland’s leading bass-baritones, who will give a captivating performance of some operatic favourites. Rory is an alumnus of Wexford Festival Opera Factory 2020/2021, previous member of INO Studio 2019/2020, and a semi-finalist in the 2022 Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition. His past operatic performances include Guglielmo (Cosi fan tutte), Falstaff (Falstaff), Monterone (Rigoletto), Dottore Grenvil (La Traviata) and Fiorello (Il Barbieri di Siviglia).

Join us for an exciting programme which is sure to delight our audience!
