Handel’s ‘Messiah’ began its life in 1741 with its first performance on Fishamble Street in Dublin. It now holds perennial appeal across the globe and, for many, a live performance is the hallmark of a quintessential Christmas. This performance draws together a team of internationally admired soloists under director David Bates, who this year has directed Handel’s ‘Rinaldo’ for Glyndebourne on Tour as well as engagements with his own group La Nuova Musica at the Brighton Festival, Wigmore Hall and the London Handel Festival. With the addition of national flagship ensembles Chamber Choir Ireland and the Irish Baroque Orchestra, this performance is set to be unmissable.
