The Holy Family Confraternity Band (HFC Concert Band) will give a concert at the National Opera House (Jerome Hynes Theatre) on Wednesday 18th December at 8 pm. The band will entertain the audience with music from the movies and musicals, with some Christmas numbers thrown in.
The band will showcase its junior band, which is directed by Ann Wickham. These talented young musicians will get an opportunity to perform during the concert.
Money raised from the concert will go towards the band’s ongoing music education programme. This programme involves developing its junior and senior bands and it is hoped to expand it to incorporate individual brass, woodwind and percussion tuition. In April 2019 the HFC band collaborated with Music Generation Wexford which led to a successful week of music making in the National Opera House called ‘Wind jammers’.
Tickets for the concert cost €15 (€5 for children) and can be purchased, in advance, from the National Opera House.
The HFC Concert Band is a community music group based in Wexford Town and facilitates people of all ages who have an interest in playing wind music. Anyone who can play a wind instrument is more than welcome to join the band.
