The National Opera House Education Programme, in partnership with Wexford County Council’s Arts Office, is delighted to announce a series of free music, song and dance workshops for older people as part of the annual Bealtaine Festival.
These workshops will run over three consecutive Wednesday afternoons in May to coincide with Age & Opportunity’s annual Bealtaine Festival which celebrates the arts and creativity as we age. All workshops are informal and designed for older people who would like to do a bit of singing, dancing or just listening and watching!
Bealtaine is a well-established festival organised by Age & Opportunity, the national development organisation which aims to provide the best possible quality of life for us all as we age, where all older people can be more active, more visible, more creative, more connected and more confident.
Supported by the Arts Office at Wexford County Council, the events for Bealtaine 2023 take place over three consecutive Wednesdays, 10, 17 and 24 May, at the National Opera House and are facilitated by a team of well-known Wexford based professional artists. All three workshops begin at 2.30 pm and are approximately one-hour in length. After each workshop participants are invited to stay on for coffee/tea and cake provided by the in-house café, La Vista.
The three workshops are:
Vocal health (singing and speaking) with vocal specialist Elizabeth Drwal. May 10
Dance, movement and music with dancer / choreographer Deirdre Grant. May 17
Group sing-along with singer Aileen Donohoe and actor Pete McCamley. May 24
The workshops are group orientated and only require an interest in coming along - no prior experience is necessary!
Come and join us! The workshops are free, but places are limited and must be booked in advance. To book, please ring the Box Office at the National Opera House on 053 912 2144. Lines are open from 9.30 am to 5 pm Monday to Saturday. Closed Sundays and Bank Holidays.
