This year the HFC Concert Band is celebrating its centenary year. The band gave its first public appearance on Christmas Day, in 1926, outside Rowe Street Church and has continued with this tradition every year since. This year’s Christmas morning will therefore be a very special event for the band. The band is a community group based in Wexford Town and facilitates people of all ages who have an interest in playing wind music. In fact almost 500 musicians have played with the band during its 100 years including singer/songwriter Pierce Turner, playwright Billy Roche and three Lord Mayors of Wexford.
HFC Concert band has enjoyed much success down through the years, including winning national and regional titles in competition. The band was privileged to perform on the GigRig during the Fleadh Cheoil in Wexford during 2024 and 2025. The band is delighted to have Mr. Patrick Clancy as conductor for this year’s winter concert and is very excited with having The Bridge Singers as its guest.
The Bridge Singers are a community choir based in Castlebridge formed by a local group in January 2014. Their aim was to create a welcoming and inclusive environment while exploring a variety of music to perform at local events.
Since that time the choir has grown to forty members and has worked with four different musical directors - the most recent being Breda Murray who became their musical director in 2022.
The choir have had many highlights - performing on the gig rig for the Fleadh in 2024 and 2025 and at many Christmas events in our local churches and Culture Night performances to name a few.
We are honoured and delighted to be joining the Holy Family Confraternity Band for their Christmas concert in our National Opera House on the 13th of December 2026.
