The National Youth Orchestra of Ireland's Summer Prom concert brings the sea to life with Smyth, Elgar and Zemlinsky. A sweeping journey of oceanic storytelling, passion and orchestral colour performed by our 120 strong orchestra aged 13-22.
The NYOI 2026 Summer Proms feature the next generation of Irish musicians performing an exhilarating, high-level symphonic repertoire under renowned conductor Killian Farrell in a vibrant national concert tour.
Conductor Killian Farrell, Generalmusikdirektor at Staatstheater Meiningen, began his career at Theater Bremen, serving as First Kapellmeister and conducting a range of repertoire including new productions of Die Zauberflöte and Wolfgang Rihm’s Jakob Lenz, alongside performances of Der Rosenkavalier, Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Alcina, Rusalka, and Fidelio. Farrell also held the position of First Kapellmeister at Staatsoper Stuttgart, where he conducted works including Monteverdi’s Orfeo and Prokofiev’s The Love for Three Oranges.
Soloist Irish Mezzo-Soprano Paula Murrihy enjoys a busy career working at the highest level in both Europe and the US. Previously a member of Oper Frankfurt’s ensemble, she has since appeared on the world’s major stages including Covent Garden, the Metropolitan Opera, Opéra de Paris, the Bolshoi Theatre, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Opernhaus Zürich and the Salzburg Festival.
