Wexford Festival Singers celebrates its 50th Anniversary with a very special performance of Johannes Brahms: A German Requiem, his largest work. The concert will bring together 140 singers as Wexford Festival Singers are joined by Notable Works choir from Waterford, Soprano and Baritone soloists and an orchestra of 42 musicians, with choir director Dr. Kevin O’Carroll conducting.
This is a wonderful opportunity for people to hear Brahms deeply human and moving masterpiece on this scale, performed by the beloved Wexford Festival Singers. It is a fitting celebration of 50 years of bringing choral music to Wexford audiences.
Wexford Festival Singers has performed a concert annually in Rowe Street Church during Wexford Festival Opera. In more recent times a second concert in Springtime was added to the calendar. Reflecting its strong community connections, it has organised the ‘Carols for All’ concert, with Wexford Sinfonia and other local choirs, to raise funds for St. Vincent de Paul. The concert has become a must-see event in the lead up to Christmas and raised €8,400 last year alone.
This concert has been made possible by the support of Wexford County Council, in partnership with National Opera House, awarding it one of the subsidised Community dates for 2025. Wexford Festival Singers is very appreciative of a generous donation from its main sponsor, an anonymous supporter of the choir.
Join us in celebrating 50 years of choral singing and community spirit. An evening of music not to be missed.
